S-1. First control, a short section ending with a small pond, is a tricky post not very visible in the terrain. It's easy to waste a minute here if one is not careful - but none of the six first runners suffered from any stress symptoms due to the chasing start, and they all spent the same time +/- 15 seconds to reach the control, although they used three different road choices.
-2. Urban loses more than a minute here as he sees a hill to the right and believes he's past the control. In reality, he hasn't reached it yet.
-3. On this section, I put a steep ridge in front of the runners. The control gets difficult for those who haven't got the right direction and a good map reading on the last part towards the control. This is why not all the runners choose to round the ridge, but instead climbed straight over it. The hills next to the path gave them a distinct reading point. Robert, Urban and Johan are not climbing as much as the others, and are thus fastest on this course part. Johan makes a small mistake on about 10 seconds in the control taking. Thomas is the one who climbs the most, and he also misses the control. He's 2:13 after Robert on this section.
-4. Also this course section is won by Robert. He's shaky in the running direction, but as always terriby fast-running, and taken together, this means things usually turns out pretty well for him. Mattias chooses another roadchoice around the detailrich area, which gives him a short and secure way to the post. The roadchoice is about 20-25 seconds slower than straight on - but rather safe. And he has a great leading to lean back on.
-5. A non-significant short section won by Mattias.
-6. Robert and Mattias both choose straight on, and Robert wins the section with 13 seconds ahead of Mattias.
-7. A section which didn't put the runners in any big troubles...
-8. ...which piled up for this short section. In the steep downhill running towards the narrow clearing, all of the runners get more or less out of direction and ends up in the shitty marsch following the clearing. This is well visible on the map. A good road choice is to run next to the marshy grounds, where the runnabilty is good. Fastest on this section is Mattias Balck, IFK Lidingö, 2 seconds ahead of Lars Åkerman, Skogsmårdarna and 4 seconds ahead of Johan Nordlund, Leksand. These three seems to be the only ones out of the whole class who've picked the best way on this section!
-9. After mistakes on the two previous sections, Robert is here up for another split time win, this due to a perfectly performed road choice...
-10. ... but on this long section he gets completely lost and misses 8 minutes! Mattias Karlsson shows his champion class and wins the course wholy 46 seconds ahead of Johan! Mattias uses the best road choice all the way; he is able to speed up and gets clear receipts of being right at regular intervals.
-11. An easy short section in open terrain where, strangely enough, many runners put 15-30 seconds on mistakes. This is probably a reaction to the previous fast-paced long section. The change to speed adjustment and careful mapreading take its toll. Mattias again the fastest and Johan second.
-12. Easyforced, open but steep terrain. Perfect for Robert who wins the section one second ahead of Urban. Mattias makes a mistakes on more than two minutes. He believes he's come to the small depressions just before the post - but in reality he's out of direction and at the small depressions 75 metres to the northwest.
-13. Fastpaced section with distict terrain formations the last 200 metres before the control. Johan is the fastest.
-14. The racy terrain seems to have invited most of the runners to "highest speed towards the control 750 metres straight on". And this brought punishment. Mattias, on the other hand, is working methodically and wins the section wholy 24 seconds ahead of Robert. Erik doesn't seem to have made any mistakes, but has lost pace and is 46 seconds behind. The rest of the field spend some time botanizing around in the terrain for the last 200 metres.
-15. Water control. Urban is the fastest since he checked this post before number 14 and thus already knows the way.
-16. Here all of the drawn runners choose to gain height immediately and run above the detailrich area. They probably assumed they'd be able to get map contact once they reached the green area. Again, Mattias makes an impressing race and wins the section with 24 seconds ahead of club mate Jon Petersson, IK Hakarpspojkarna. Johan third 31 seconds behind. Urban is entering the green area an angle too early and loses two minutes.
-17. Begins as a messy and section involving a steep climb. If one manages to maintain the direction rather well, one ends up in the multiple contour-depression, and from its end the control gets easy. Thus, the important thing is to maintain a good direction throughout the green area - preferrably a little to the right off the straight line, since this makes it easy to get map contact once the green ends and the detailrich area begins. The ones who made mistakes here got too far to the left and thus lost the most distinct terrain objects. Urban fastest, four seconds ahead of Mattias.
-18. Short section with lots of map reading. Johan fastest.
-19. Easy-run section downhill. Mattias fastest.
-20. Here many made small mistakes when trying to get the post. Jon Petersson fastest ....
-21. ... and also to this last control. Jon also makes the fastest finish - and a good finish on the race as a whole.
Johan Nordlund wins this event on 63:02, Mattias Karlsson is second on 63:29. Complete results here.
