Here is the exciting ending of 2004 year's 3-days for Women Elite. It is hunting start, and the initial time differences after two events are as follows: 1. Tina Junegard, Tullinge SK 0:00 2. Sofia Holmgård, Kils OK 1:25 3. Emelie Holmström, OK Ravinen 4:03 4. Elin Dahlstedt, Leksands OK 5:42. Anke Xylander, Söders SOL Tyresö starts 27:25 behind.

Tina Junegard går ut i ledningen - men redan från början trasslar allt till sig för henne. Över tio minuter bommar hon på den första skärmen. Även vid kontroll 2 och 3 får den annars så orienteringssäkra Tina problem. Men till den kartläsningsintensiva 4:e kontrollen rycker hon upp sig och visar sin klass genom att vinna sträckan och hon är även snabbast på den efterföljande långsträckan. Missar på 8:e och 9:e kontrollerna gör emellertid att Tina helt försvinner ur tätstriden.

Fighten om segern kom nu i stället att stå mellan Sofia Holmgård och Elin Dahlstedt. Elin gick ut 4:17 efter Sofia men var något snabbare på de flesta delsträckorna och efter 8:e kontrollen var avståndet bara 1:23 minuter. En tvåminutersmiss på 9;e för Elin ökade ut avståndet till Sofia till 3:22 minuter men Elin avslutar starkt och är sträcksegrare på tre av de fem avslutande kontrollerna samt vinner också spurten och avståndet i mål har krympt till 1:36.

Sofia gör ett mycket orienteringssäkert lopp och ger därför konkurrenterna ingen chans att komma ifatt.

Tina Junegard sets out in the lead -- but right from start her troubles begin. To the very first post she spends more than ten superfluous minutes on mistakes. Also at the second and third posts the otherwise so reliable Tina gets problems. But to the mapskill-requiering 4th post she pulls herself together and shows her class by winning the section. She has also the fastest splitime on the following long section. Mistakes on the 8th and 9th controls however make her fall completely out of the victory discussions.

The fight over the victory instead turns to be between Sofia Holmgård och Elin Dahlstedt. Elin set out 4:1 behind Sofia, but was a little bit faster on most of the course sections, and after 8th post, the time difference was no more than 1:23 minutes. On the 9th control, Elin has a 2-minutes-mistake, and Sofia's lead increases to 3:22 minutes, but Elin has a strong ending of the race and is the split time winner on three of the five last sections. She also wins the spurt, and at the finish the difference is adjusted to 1:36.

Sofia makes a reliable race and thus leaves the competitors no openings to be able to catch up.
