Fjällhuldran och Øivind.

Det har alltid pratats om att i skogarna och på fjället finns det naturväsen som lockar männen vilse. I Norge kallas de Huldror och i Sverige för Skogsrån. De kan vara riktigt förföriska.

Se vad som hände den glade och trevlige gutten Øivind Eriksen från OK Øst i Norge i årets fjällorientering under Idreveckan. För 10:e året i rad gästade han oss och han springer H45 Motion. Efter en tvåminuters miss på första skärmen så sprang han mycket säkert till 2:an, 3:an och 4:an.

Så här skriver han:
"Rett i kontrollene inntil jeg skulle henge på en flicka mot 5:an. Det gick galt. Så nok mer på flickan enn på kartet og tapte ca 10 min."

Eftersom han var 8 min efter segraren så var det en ödesdiger miss. Hans sens moral var: "Orientering er eget vegval i ukjent mark. Det må jeg læra mig."

Detta som hände Øivind, är så typiskt för Fjällhuldrorna. Man är chanslös när de dyker upp. Att döma av de kartor som skickats in i övrigt också, så var det många förföriska naturväsen i farten under Idreveckan.

Tales and rumours give that in the forests and on the heaths, there are nature spirits who sometimes set the men off track. In Norway they are called "huldror" and in Sweden "skogsrån". They may be very seductive.

Look what happened the poor norwegian Øivind Eriksen from OK Øst in Norway on this year's mountain race in H45Motion during Idre O-Week. It was his 10th year of visiting the Idre courses, and after a two minutes' mistake on the first control, he has a most careful route towards 2nd, 3rd and 4th. And then...

This is his story:
"I got all the controls straight until I thought I'd go with a girl towards the 5th. It didn't turn out well. I guess I looked more at the girl than the map, and lost about 10 minutes."

Since he ended the race 8 minutes behind the winner, it was a crucial miss. Øivind's moral of the incident was: "Orienteering is one's own route choices in unknown terrain. I have to learn it."

What happened Øivind is a typical feature of being exposed to the creatures known as huldror. Once they show up, one is completely out of the running.

Judging from the other routedrawings our competitors have completed, lots of seductive spirits must have been around during the Idre O-Week.
